Planning
Planning in the parish
The Parish Council is a statutory consultee on planning applications within Handley, Chowley, Milton Green and Golborne David. The council does not decide applications. Decisions are made by Cheshire West and Chester Council as the local planning authority, but the parish council’s comments are taken into account and carry weight, particularly where they add local knowledge that the planning officer may not have.
How the council considers applications
Planning applications received since the previous meeting are listed on each agenda and considered in public. The council looks at each application against the development plan, the character of the parish and the practical effects on neighbours, highways and the countryside, and then submits its comments to the planning authority. Where an application arrives between meetings and the consultation deadline cannot be extended, the Clerk may consult councillors and submit comments on their behalf.
Have your say
Residents can comment on any application directly to Cheshire West and Chester Council through its online planning register, where you can also view plans, supporting documents and the comments already received. You are also welcome to raise an application with the parish council at the open forum of any meeting.
Neighbourhood matters
The council keeps in regular contact with the Bolesworth Estate and other landowners about developments that affect the parish, and reports on those discussions at its meetings. Larger proposals, such as the future of the former highways depot, are kept on the agenda until they are resolved.
